STARselect
Evidence check

A CV evidence check that tests the claims, not just the keywords

The evidence check shows how well a CV or LinkedIn profile backs up what it says: what's specific, what's vague and what doesn't add up.

How the evidence check works in STARselect

  • What it flags. STARselect lists what's specific in a CV and flags anything vague or inconsistent, overlapping roles and possible duplicates in your database. It works on any CV, with no vacancy needed.
  • Questions to test the weak claims and the strong ones. It picks out the strongest and weakest claims, then writes up to five STAR questions to test the weak claims and up to five to test the strong ones.
  • Ready for the pre-screen and interview. Run it from their application, and use its questions in their pre-screen or add them to their STAR interview guide with a click. With the browser extension, right-click a top-scored applicant and choose “Evidence check with STARselect”.
  • A CV or a LinkedIn profile. If there isn't a CV, it checks their LinkedIn profile. A LinkedIn profile is usually shorter and less detailed than a CV, so STARselect marks a check or score made from one as a guide, to be given less weight.
  • Combine CV, evidence check and score. Put their CV, evidence check, score and any reference check in one pack to print or download as a PDF, with their contact details removed if you choose.
  • Constructive feedback for applicants. A polite “no” that helps each unsuccessful applicant, with what came through well in their CV and where to add detail, from their evidence check. You choose what to include, and can preview each email before it goes out.
