How it works

  1. 1Start your half price first monthA$50 plus tax, paid once, and tick “Accept the challenge”. Each person chooses for themselves, the normal first month or the challenge, so a company can have some people in the race and others not. The owner invites their recruiters from Settings, then Team. In the challenge each person can add three new vacancies and three market maps this month, and search those three maps again within your first month’s allowance. Once you take the challenge you can’t leave it for the rest of your first month. Without the tick you get everything, but you are not in the challenge, and you can still take it later in Settings while your first month runs and entries are open.
  2. 2Add up to three new permanent roles, then advertise themAdd the vacancy to STARselect first, then advertise it. Roles already advertised before they were added do not count.
  3. 3Find, score, check and pre-screenFind new people in STARselect, score them against the role description, check the evidence in their CVs and pre-screen the best.
  4. 4Record the accepted offerYour time to hire runs from the day the vacancy was created to the day the offer is accepted, from STARselect’s own records.

The rules

  • Agencies are ranked only against agencies, and employers only against employers. Permanent roles only, on a base (taxable) salary of at least A$90,000, or the equivalent in your currency.
  • A company can put as many people in the race as it likes. The owner invites people from Settings, then Team. Each administrator or recruiter takes their own first month, A$50 plus tax, once, for 30 days, paid by them or by the owner or an administrator, and chooses for themselves: the normal first month or the challenge. Only people who choose the challenge are in the race, so colleagues race each other as well as every other company. Interviewers and read-only people don’t pay.
  • Each entry has up to three new roles of its own, and each role is judged on its own. A vacancy you delete still counts as one of your three.
  • The person you hire must be new to you: someone who applied to that advert, or whom you found through STARselect after adding the vacancy.
  • Sign-ups close 12 January 2027. Offers accepted by 26 February 2027 count.
  • Agencies and employers race in separate categories, each with its own prize: in each, the company is ranked by the quickest time to hire of any person in the challenge, and the company with the quickest wins a year of Professional free for one person, worth A$1,188*, from the day it wins. The prize goes to the company.
  • A placement can take longer than a month. If you haven’t finished yours when your first month ends, you’re under no obligation to carry on. If you’d like to, take a plan for just one month to complete the placement and have your time counted. To do that, email hello@starselect.ai.
  • We confirm the winner with the hiring manager, and the prize is awarded once the person has started.
